This weekend we celebrate and memorialize those men and women that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we in the United States enjoy on a daily basis.
Unfortunately our society has evolved this date on the calendar to just another day off of work. Some marketing people create sales to lure people in to spend money on their day off. Others see this weekend as the start of summer.
This weekend when you wake to the absence of war on the street outside your door and the option to do as you please with your days off of work, remember those that have passed before us with their lives so that we can enjoy our freedoms.
Maybe you do not have any direct attachment to someone who has lost their life in protecting our freedoms so you just blow off the notion. Maybe the commercialization of Memorial Day has lessened your appreciation.
On Monday May 30th, stop for just 1 minute of silence. Give up a prayer to those who lay to rest around the globe as a testament to our country, our freedoms and our way of life.
