Scary Business
Next Monday evening the streets will be filled with little ghosts and goblins trick or treating. They will dress up in a variety of costumes and celebrate Halloween!
As you go to work on Halloween, think about how your business is either trick or treating you.
What is currently scary about your business? Revenue? Profit? Turnover? Competition? Technology? Employees? Customers? Future?
.
Too often as leaders, we wait for some predetermined date or timeframe to look at our business. Maybe it is the end of a month, quarter or year. Maybe you wait until something goes bad and then start looking at what could have been done.
With Monday being the 31st of October, it marks a critical planning timeframe for your business. You have about 40 business days left in the calendar year. Have you put together your budgets for 2012? What progress has been made on your 2011 business plan? What adjustments need to be done so the 2012 can have an improved outcome? What sales opportunities can be closed before the end of the calendar year? Lots of questions to be asking yourself.
Building your business so that it appreciates in value is about being lean, strategic and measuring your performance.
With only a short period of time left in 2011, now is the time to take action and have some significant impact on your organizations performance. What two or three key items can you and your team focus on that can be completed this year which will contribute to the success of the organization?
Do some critical thinking and make some hard choices. Get focused and then move forward with confidence in your efforts.
