As you read this, we are in the final days of 2012. Sales activities should be wrapping up and operational activities like physical inventory might be taking place.
You should also start to prepare for 2013. Your goals and objectives should have been packaged up weeks ago in your business plan to allow you to remain focused through the end of 2012. Now is the time to pull those plans out and get them ready for work when you return after the New Years Day holiday.
This is also a good time if you have not already done so to thank your employees for their continued efforts.
In the coming weeks you should compare performance numbers between prior years and 2012. Write down areas of improvement that might just now be coming clearer for 2013.
Set in motion a commitment to better results for not just others in your business but for you personally. How can you as the captain of the ship do a better job leading the team to greater success?
Identify just one personal improvement you will work on in 2013 and get focused on it starting today. Write it down, put it on your PC screen saver, tell your whole team and ask them to keep you accountable to it. What ever path you choose, be responsible for the necessary changes you may have to make in order for your improvement to be realized.
